Which artificial flowering trees look most real?
The ones whose living counterparts bloom on bare or sparse branches. Cherry, magnolia and jacaranda all flower before or alongside their leaves, so a faux version showing dense blossom against visible branch structure is botanically correct and the eye accepts it immediately. Species that in life carry flowers scattered through heavy foliage are far harder to fake, because the blooms are usually distributed too evenly and the result reads as decorated rather than grown. If realism is the priority, choose a tree that blooms on wood; if pure effect is the priority, density wins.
Do artificial flowers fade?
Indoors, in ambient light, not perceptibly. In direct sun they can, and the rate depends heavily on colour — reds, pinks, purples and oranges rely on the least light-stable pigments, so a magenta bougainvillea in a south-facing window will shift long before a white magnolia in the same spot shows anything at all. How to choose the right size
Flowering canopies are wide, and they are meant to be seen from below or from the side rather than from above — so choose a height that puts the bloom line at or just above eye level, roughly 1.5 to 2 m. That makes 6 to 8 ft the useful range in most interiors. Under a low ceiling, a smaller tree with an open canopy beats a large one compressed against the plaster. Do the flowers or petals shed over time?
Some loose petals after unboxing, transport or handling are normal, since blooms are individually attached rather than moulded as one piece with the branch. This is more noticeable on cherry blossom and wisteria, where petals are smallest, than on magnolia or camellia, where each flower is a single larger piece. A gentle shake and reshaping the branches after unpacking settles most of it, and keeping the tree clear of foot traffic and doorways limits ongoing loss.
Can a flowering tree go outside for a wedding or event held outdoors in Canada?
For a single day or weekend, most of these hold up outdoors provided there is no heavy rain and the base is anchored against wind, since a wide flowering canopy catches a lot of air. Left outside for longer, or through a Canadian winter, indoor-grade blooms and trunks are not built for freeze-thaw cycles or prolonged UV. How much assembly is needed, and does the tree arrive already shaped?
Trunks generally ship built, with branches folded flat or wrapped for the box to keep the blooms from crushing. On arrival you separate and bend the branches outward into an open, natural silhouette, which takes longer on a dense event-scale canopy than on a single sparser interior tree. Does a flowering tree come with a planter, or do I need my own?
It varies by piece: some ship in a cement-filled or weighted base named in the product title, built to keep a wide, top-heavy canopy from tipping, while others arrive in a plain nursery pot meant to sit inside a planter you choose. If you plan to repot one, make sure the replacement base is heavy enough at the bottom to match the original, since that is what keeps a wide flowering canopy standing upright, not the planter's style.
Is the height listed the exact height once the tree is potted and standing?
Yes, the height given is the finished, potted height as the tree will stand, measured to the top of the bloom line, unless a listing states trunk-only. Because flowering canopies are wide and often asymmetric, two units of the same nominal height can look different in scale depending on trunk count and bloom density. Weeping forms are measured to the lowest hanging bloom, so check that figure separately if drape length matters for your setting.
