Large and giant artificial trees are faux specimens of seven feet and taller, built on reinforced natural trunks so they hold their shape at scale. They go where a room has height to fill: double-height lobbies, atriums, stairwell voids, showrooms and open-plan commercial floors. Hotels, offices and designers buy at this size because nothing smaller registers against a tall wall.
How tall should an artificial tree be for a high ceiling?
Roughly two thirds to three quarters of the clear ceiling height. In a room with 12 to 14 feet of clearance, a 10 to 12 foot specimen sits correctly; drop to 8 feet and the tree stops reading as architecture and starts reading as furniture. The mistake we see most often is buying to a budget rather than to the volume, then trying to make up the shortfall with several medium trees. Will a large artificial tree fit through the door?
Usually yes, because trees at this scale ship with the foliage compressed and the branches folded in, then get shaped out on site. The constraint that actually bites is the delivery route rather than the tree itself: goods lift dimensions, loading dock access, stair turns and the width of the final doorway. Measure the narrowest point on that route before ordering, not the room. For commercial installations, confirm there is a service entrance - a 12 foot tree that cannot physically reach the atrium is an expensive piece of storage. Allow floor space too, since a broad-canopy specimen wants roughly 1.5 to 2.5 metres of clear diameter once it is opened out.
How to choose the right size
Scale to the volume of the room, not its footprint. Take the clear ceiling height, subtract about 30 cm of headroom above the crown, and that is your ceiling for tree plus planter together. How do we keep a tree this tall clean?
Dust from the top down with a long-handled feather duster or a vacuum fitted with a soft brush attachment, working along each branch rather than across the crown. For a deeper clean, a handheld hair dryer on the cool setting loosens dust from dense foliage without water. We do not recommend hosing down silk or real-touch leaves; check the individual product page before using any liquid cleaner.
Do these arrive already potted, or do we supply our own planter?
It varies by product. Some large and giant trees on this page ship in a weighted planter ready to place; others ship as a bare trunk on a spike, built to be set into a planter you choose separately. Does the height listed include the pot?
Treat the stated height as the full assembled figure, tip of the crown to the base of the planter, unless a product page says otherwise. At seven feet and up, a difference of even a few inches between foliage-only and full height is enough to change whether a piece clears a doorway or a ceiling, so measure against the number on the page rather than assuming.
How does a tree this size get delivered and set up?
It arrives boxed with the trunk in sections and the branches folded flat against the stem to save space in transit. Setup means standing the trunk, locking the sections together, then working outward from the centre to bend each branch and separate the leaves by hand.
