Benefits & Features

Realistic detailing. Hand-set, multi-tone foliage on a natural or fibreglass-reinforced trunk, built to read as real from across a room.

Low maintenance. No watering, feeding, pruning or repotting. A light dusting every few months is the entire care routine.

Materials. No soil, no pollen and no sap.

Built for commercial use. Sized and specified for lobbies, restaurants, offices and event spaces.

Shipping & Delivery

Made to order. Larger trees are built after your order is confirmed, so allow the lead time set out in our Shipping policy rather than next-day dispatch.

Freight for oversized pieces. Tall trees and multi-unit orders ship by freight and we will arrange a delivery window with you.

Unboxing. Foliage is compressed in transit and will look flat on arrival. Bend the branches outward from the bottom up and fan the foliage, ten to fifteen minutes per large tree. This is normal, not damage.

Returns & Warranty

Return unused items in their original packaging within the period set out in our Returns policy. Because foliage is shaped by hand after unboxing, a fanned-out tree can still be returned, just repack it carefully.

Products are covered against manufacturing defects in construction, trunk mounting and foliage attachment. See our Returns policy for the period. Gradual fading from prolonged direct sun is not covered, including on UV-stabilised items. UV treatment slows fading, it does not stop it.

Sizing Help

Measure your ceiling height and subtract at least 30cm so the canopy is not compressed against the ceiling. For a room corner, 1.8m to 2.4m usually reads well.

For double-height lobbies and atriums, go taller than instinct suggests, because undersized trees disappear in large volumes. Unsure? Send us your dimensions before ordering and we will tell you honestly which size fits.

Product Description

A faux rubber tree (in the style of Ficus elastica), one size, 52 in tall, in a 5 in black pot. Its 72 leaves are real-touch, adjustable, and variegated, and it needs no assembly.

The rubber tree is a genuinely popular houseplant for its bold, glossy, paddle-shaped leaves, and the variegated forms — leaves marked with cream, pink or yellow alongside the green — are prized specifically for that patterning, which live growers work to preserve with bright light since variegated rubber trees tend to revert toward solid green in low light. An artificial variegated rubber tree sidesteps that entire problem: the pattern it ships with is the pattern it keeps, indefinitely, regardless of where you put it.

At 52 in, this is the tallest single-size plant in this batch: 72 real-touch, adjustable, variegated leaves, a 5 in black pot, and product dimensions of 27 in by 25 in by 52 in — that 27 in by 25 in footprint describes the spread of the leaves rather than the pot base.

Artificial rubber tree, or a real one?

This tree Live variegated rubber tree
Light required None Bright indirect light needed to keep variegation from fading back to solid green
Common failure mode None Overwatering causes root rot; the sap is also irritating to skin and toxic if eaten
Leaf drop None Drops leaves readily from cold drafts or sudden moves
Cost, year one One-time purchase A good variegated specimen, plus a pot
Cost, year five Nothing further Risk of reverting to solid green or being replaced after a care mistake
Maintenance A damp cloth occasionally Watering, wiping the large leaves, careful placement away from drafts

The honest case for the live plant is that variegated rubber trees are genuinely striking when they are doing well, and no artificial leaf pattern quite matches the way real variegation catches light. The honest case against it is that keeping the variegation — not just keeping the plant alive — takes brighter light than most rooms supply, and a lot of live variegated rubber trees slowly go green.

What arrives in the box, and what do I have to do to it?

At 52 in this is the tallest single-piece plant in this batch, so expect a larger box and budget for two-person handling when moving it from the doorway to its final spot. Open the leaf clusters out by hand once unboxed, working from the base upward so the lower leaves are not left compressed flat against the stem.

Shipping damage is the single most common complaint in this category — cracked pots and bent stems, more likely on a taller, top-heavier piece like this one. Inspect the pot and the stem base before you accept delivery, and photograph anything damaged before you unpack further.

Who should not buy this?

  • Direct outdoor sun. Best suited to indoor use.
  • Anyone who actually wants to watch variegation change and respond to light. That responsiveness is specific to a live plant; this tree's pattern is fixed and will never shift.

Common questions

How many leaves does it have, and are they really variegated?

72 leaves, real-touch, adjustable and variegated — meaning patterned with cream or lighter tones alongside green rather than solid colour, the specific look real rubber tree collectors look for.

Is the 5 inch pot big enough for a 52 inch plant?

The product dimensions — 27 in by 25 in by 52 in — describe the spread of the leaves rather than the pot's footprint, since a 5 in pot could not physically match a 27 in by 25 in base.

Do real variegated rubber trees stay variegated?

Only with enough light. Variegated rubber trees need brighter indirect light than the plain green form to hold their patterning, and a plant kept in a dim corner will often produce new leaves that come in solid green, gradually losing the variegation it was bought for. An artificial version does not have this problem — the leaf pattern it ships with is the pattern it keeps, in any light or none at all.

Can I put this in a low-light room?

Yes, and that is one of the stronger arguments for choosing this over a live variegated rubber tree specifically. A real one needs bright indirect light to keep its variegation from fading toward solid green; this artificial plant is indifferent to light entirely. The only placement we would avoid is direct outdoor sun.

Why Choose This Piece

What separates it from a generic artificial plant

Hand-set foliage

Leaves are layered by hand in varying tones, because real foliage is never one flat shade of green.

Real trunk construction

Natural wood or reinforced fibreglass trunks, depending on the tree.

Built for real conditions

UV-stabilised options are intended for sun, chlorine and salt air, conditions that are hard on living planting. UV treatment slows fading; it does not stop it.

Sized for commercial spaces

Sized and specified for hotel lobbies, restaurants, offices and event spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

How realistic does this actually look?

From arm's length it is difficult to distinguish from a living tree. The trunk construction and multi-tone hand-set foliage do most of that work. Up close, under direct inspection, you will be able to tell. We would rather say that plainly than overpromise.

What size should I order for my space?

Measure your ceiling height and subtract at least 30cm. For a standard room corner, 1.8m to 2.4m usually reads well. For lobbies and atriums, go taller than instinct suggests, because undersized trees vanish in large volumes. Send us your dimensions and we will advise before you order.

Can I use this outdoors?

Only if it is from our UV-resistant range. Check the product title and tags. Indoor-rated pieces can go under permanent cover, but will fade faster in direct sun. UV stabilisation slows fading substantially; it does not defy physics.

Does it need any maintenance?

No watering, feeding, pruning or repotting. Dust settles on foliage the way it settles on a bookshelf, so a light dusting or gentle wipe every few months keeps it sharp. That is the entire care routine.

Why does it look flat when it arrives?

Foliage is compressed for transit, which is expected, not damage. Starting from the lowest branches and working up, bend each branch outward and fan the foliage until the canopy fills evenly. Large trees take ten to fifteen minutes and it is worth the time.
